Staten Island art legends brought their skillset to do a complete park makeover at one of Staten Island’s most active outdoor spaces - Mahoney Park in West Brighton. Artist veterans Cody Prez, Cramcept, and John Exit came up with a series of typography murals activating the park visitors to engage with their surroundings through bright, bold visual commands. The words Thrive, Peace, Love, Dream, Share, Create, Dance, Jump, Play, Cheer, and grow appear as billboards throughout the main concrete area. Also featured is a new rendition of John Exit’s “Believe In Yourself” mural. This concept of the word “Yourself” with the letters “b e l i e v e” inside it has been created 3 separate times on Staten Island, but after years of construction, and property ownership changing, none of those 3 murals exist anymore. Projectivity is proud to help restore this positive message along with a series of other “words to inspire”. This project was in partnership with Thrive Collective who received the Parks Equity Grant Award from Council Member Kamillah Hanks of the 49th District in NYC. Sponsored also in part by Dept of Cultural Affairs.
